HCHA Briefing to Incoming Ministers (BIM) - November 2023

The Home and Community Health Association released its Briefing to Incoming Ministers (BIM) on 30 November 2023. HCHA urges the new Government to take action on the following priorities:

  • Take immediate action to settle and influence an alternative sector-wide solution, for the care and support worker pay equity claim to address under-valuation of our workforce and consistent wage rates.
  • Address ongoing pay parity issues, affecting our sector’s ability to recruit, retain and grow our nursing and allied health professionals, who are lured away by more attractive pay rates in the public sector.
  • Support a sustainable and future-focused service and funding model for the sector, recognising that investment in this sector, and outcomes, will alleviate pressures on an already over-burdened acute- care health system.
  • Influence a more inclusive and integrated primary and community care system so that home and community support services are recognised for the important part they play in the continuum of health and disability services, with a seamless transition for clients across the system.

The Briefing to Incoming Ministers is available below.
