HCHA Board Chair Welcomes New CEO

Murray Penman, Chair of the Home and Community Health Association is delighted to announce that the HCHA Board has appointed Carmela Petagna as its new CEO. Carmela started in the role on 27 March 2023.

“Carmela has extensive experience across both the private and public sectors, and most recently leading health programmes in her role as Manager of the Long-Term Conditions portfolio at Te Whatu Ora".  "She has held previous senior roles, in national quality improvement programmes, at the Health Quality & Safety Commission”.

“The HCHA Board is looking forward to working with Carmela and she is looking forward to meeting all HCHA members and expanding on the work that the HCHA does on behalf of our sector”.

Graeme Titcombe retiring as CEO

Murray also announced the retirement of Graeme Titcombe, current CEO.

“Graeme has given many years of service to the Home and Community Services Sector” he said.

“All of us will miss the guidance and advice he has given us over many years both in his role as a sector leader and also in his role of Chair of the HCHA".  "I will certainly miss Graeme’s leadership and advocacy and being able to call him as a colleague and friend when there is an idea I have wanted to bounce off him”.

Graeme has held the role of HCHA CEO for four years and prior to that he was Chair of the HCHA Board for six years. Graeme was previously CEO of Access Community Health for 16 years. He became an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2018 for services to the home support sector and the community.
