HCHA CEO - Lisa Foster's Oral Submission at the Health Select Committee

Raising awareness of the vital role our members provide is one of HCHA priorities and being able to speak to the Health Select Committee cross party members today was a great opportunity to achieve this.

The key asks were:

• Stability and viability for our vital sector, with the concern of destabilisation from historic underfunding and Pay Equity issues clarified
• Highlighting workforce challenges: associated with being able to offer sustainable pay rates and the link to attraction, retention, and training of Community Support Workers
• Increased utilisation of sector capacity and awareness of the flexible support that HCSS can and already provides, but needs to be supported by the right policy changes/commissioning 
• A willingness to work with Te Whatu Ora in a co-design process for a targeted strategy and action plan for a sustainable integrated continuum of care.

Follow up meetings are scheduled with key decision makers and more will be sought over the coming weeks to continue this advocacy for our members,
